COMMUNITY
RELATIONS

It is a priority for us to build a project that integrates well into the community. Therefore, we want to create opportunities to involve and consult the public during the project's development.

Public Meetings

On September 20, 2024, we held two public meetings in Dalhousie. The goal of these meetings was to share information about the project, but more importantly, to hear citizens' concerns.

In total, about 400 people attended and shared their concerns and comments about the project. These contributions are important to us and will inform the project's development.

Here is the summary of the meetings, as well as the presentation given by Mr. Francis Forlini, General Manager of EcoRock, on September 20:

Proposed Public Engagement Process

We want to conduct a public consultation process that will allow citizens to:

  1. Actively contribute to the feasibility study and environmental assessment of the project.

  2. Determine the conditions under which the project could move forward.

The first step in this process will be to create a steering committee. This committee will consist of:

  • First Nations

  • Neighbours of the project

  • Citizens from the Heron Bay area

  • Environmental and socio-economic groups

  • Technical experts

  • Representatives from EcoRock

While public workshops and meetings will provide broader engagement opportunities, the committee will engage in more in-depth discussions and work sessions to tackle complex issues and provide detailed recommendations.

More specifically, the committee's role will be to:

  • Contribute to studies and provide feedback

  • Represent community interests

  • Facilitate communication

  • Participate in meetings and workshops

  • Ensure transparency in the process

The broader consultation process will be developed in collaboration with the steering committee. Additional information on the creation of the committee will follow shortly.
